Congratulations, Kathy!!

  • One of NH's AWHONN Leaders has been promoted and also won a seat on the National AWHONN Board of Directors. Press release below:

    Nurse-Administrator Elected
    Secretary-Treasurer of Leading National Nursing Association


    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) today announced the election of Kathleen Hale, former Director of Maternal Child Health at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, as the Secretary-Treasurer of the 2008 AWHONN Board of Directors. Beginning September 4, Hale will assume the role of Associate Vice President of Nursing at Maine Medical Center (MMC) in Portland, where she will oversee Maternal Child Health Services, as well as the MMC clinics.

    "I am delighted to have this opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors of AWHONN," said Hale. "AWHONN's focus on quality patient care and keeping nurses abreast of the latest in nursing research and practice has made it a true leader in knowledge generation and its transfer to the bedside."

National AWHONN announces NH Section election results:

  • Sara Meade (Director of Maternal Child Services, Monadnock Hospital) has been reelected as NH Section Chair and Ann Hebert ( Clinical Nurse III, Elliot Hospital) as Secretary/Treasurer. They begin a two year term in January '08. In addition, please visit Coordinating Team to view your NH 2007-08 Leaders.

NH News:

  • The NH Section of AWHONN was honored with an award at the annual spring '07 conference of the NEW HAMPSHIRE BREASTFEEDING TASK FORCE. Colleen Whatley, MS, RN, of Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Lebanon, received the award representing the NH AWHONN Coordinating Team. The team wishes to thank the Breastfeeding Task Force for this recognition!

  • Somer Andrews, BSN, RN, has been appointed as the Neonatal Nurse Clinician in the Special Care Nursery at the Family Place at Concord Hospital, Concord, NH. Somer has been a long-standing AWHONN member, resource nurse, and interim OB nurse clinician at CH. Congratulations and best wishes in your new role!

  • Peg Clifford, RN, and NH AWHONN Coordinating Team member, has been appointed Nurse Manager of Maternity Services at York Hospital, York, ME. Way to go, Peg!!
