Message from the NH Coordinating Team

AWHONN is recognized as the leading organization promoting the health of women and newborns. Your NH Coordinating Team fosters this mission by planning events and conferences to meet your professional needs. We are always interested in hearing from you about topics and issues that you'd like our team to focus on as we plan continuing education programs. Please contact one of the Coordinating Team members with your ideas or if you'd like to become involved.

Who is the NH Coordinating Team?
Our team is made up of members from a variety of geographical locations within the state, as well as from diverse backgrounds and work environments. Please Contact Us if you would like to join this planning team.

We are very excited about the upcoming Obstetrics programs planned for the Fall. We will also continue to meet the needs of our new obstetrical nurses with the planning of Basic Fetal Monitoring in September.

S.T.A.B.L.E. continues to be a very strong program with focused learning about stabilizing the sick newborn. Taught by Lisa McNerney, RN, BSJ, MA, clinical staff educator for Pediatrics/Nursery at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH, this program is an engaging and thorough approach to understanding care of the baby likely to go on to a higher level of care.

Our NH AWHONN membership is strong and growing. We currently have 233 members in New Hampshire. Welcome to our new members, and thank you to those of you who have renewed your membership. It's the membership that makes the NH section a success, so think about how you might become involved by attending an event, recruiting members, writing an article for the newsletter or joining the Coordinating Team.

Section elections held this summer resulted in the re-election of Sara Kellogg Meade, RN, MS, as New Hampshire Section Chair, and Ann Hebert, RN, BS, as Secretary-Treasurer for another two-year term beginning in January 2008.

Think about attending!

The 2008 Annual Convention takes place June 21-25, in Los Angeles. The Theme of the convention is "Many Voices, Once Mission."

Watch for information at the national AWHONN website at www.awhonn.org.

The goal of the 2008 AWHONN convention is to value the many voices caring for women and newborns by:
  • Integrating diverse knowledge and expertise across the continuum
  • Creating and sustaining partnerships to optimize health outcomes
  • Advocating for best practices

AWHONN's annual conventions are always exciting and invigorating!
